My Safety Help Map

A LITTLE INTRODUCTION

Sometimes we need help at home, at school, or when we are out.

Knowing where to go and who to ask can help us feel more prepared.

This map helps me think about safe places and people I can go to.

Remember:

NOTICE β†’ FIND β†’ ASK

πŸ‘€ NOTICE when I need help.
πŸ“ FIND a safe place or responsible adult.
πŸ—£οΈ ASK clearly for help.

I do not have to solve a safety problem alone.

1. MY SAFETY HELP MAP

ME

Write or draw β€œME” in the centre circle.

✏️ My Map

For each place, write or draw:

Who can help me here?
Where can I go?

You can use general names such as β€œmy teacher,” β€œschool office,” β€œthe playground,” or β€œa family member.”

2. WHO CAN HELP ME?

Draw a line to connect each place with a possible source of help.

AT SCHOOL
β†’ Teacher / school staff

AT HOME
β†’ Parent, guardian, or trusted adult

AT A PLAYGROUND
β†’ Parent, guardian, or responsible adult

IN A PUBLIC PLACE
β†’ Trusted adult or appropriate staff member

Remember:

There may be more than one person who can help.

The important thing is to find a responsible adult and ask for help.

3. WHERE SHOULD I GO?

For each situation, think:

β€œWhere would be a good place to go for help?”

You can write, draw, or circle your answer.

1. You feel worried while you are at school.

A good place to go:☐

2. You cannot find the adult you came with in a busy public place.

A good place to go:☐

3. You are at a playground and need help.

A good place to go:☐

4. Something at home makes you unsure what to do.

A good place to go:☐

5. You become separated from your group during an outing.

A good place to go:☐

My safety idea:

I can look for a safe, visible place and a responsible adult who can help me.

4. MY SAFE PLACES

Think about places you normally visit where you can find responsible adults.

πŸ“ PLACE 1

My place:
Who can help me there?

πŸ“ PLACE 2

My place:
Who can help me there?

πŸ“ PLACE 3

Tip: Write a place name or general description.
You do not need to write an address.

5. IF I CANNOT FIND MY USUAL ADULT

Sometimes the person I usually ask for help may not be nearby.

I can:

β‘  STAY CALM

Take a breath and think about what to do next.

β‘‘ STAY SAFE

Stay in a safe, visible place.

β‘’ FIND ANOTHER RESPONSIBLE ADULT

Look for someone appropriate who can help, such as:

☐ Staff
☐ Security personnel
☐ A teacher
☐ Another responsible adult with children or families

β‘£ ASK FOR HELP

Tell the person clearly that I need help.

β‘€ KEEP ASKING

If one person cannot help me, I can ask another responsible adult.

I can keep asking until I find someone who can help.

6. PRACTISE ASKING FOR HELP

Sometimes simple words are enough.

I can say:

β€œExcuse me, I need help.”

β€œI cannot find my .”

β€œCan you help me find a safe adult?”

✏️ My own help sentence:

β€œβ€
β€œβ€

7. MY HELP-SEEKING PLAN

NOTICE β†’ FIND β†’ ASK

πŸ‘€ 1. I NOTICE I need help.

↓

πŸ“ 2. I FIND a safe place or responsible adult.

↓

πŸ—£οΈ 3. I ASK clearly for help.

My plan:

When I need help, I can go to:
I can ask:
I can say:

8. QUICK SAFETY REMINDER

☐ I know where I can go for help.

☐ I know adults I can ask.

☐ I can clearly say that I need help.

☐ If one person cannot help, I can ask another trusted adult.

⭐ My safety message:

I do not have to solve a safety problem alone.

FOR ADULTS

Help children identify realistic safe places and responsible adults in the environments they regularly visit. Review the map together and update it when routines change.
